Chaplain Candidacy
Form Application license and Ordination
- Qualifications for License and Ordination
Ordination and license is open to all true Christians, whose lives give evidence of the genuineness of their faith, and who are in harmony with the doctrines and administration (See RAM Bible Institute and Seminary Statement of Faith) of Chaplains International, Inc., providing they meet the educational standards or have the ministry experience that would qualify them for ordination. They shall be classified as follows:
Candidates, who are of good character and meet the qualifications, may be granted credentials as an ordained minister and chaplain of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and represent RAM Bible Institute and Seminary & Chaplains International, Inc. as authorized clergy. Those who are eligible to serve as clergy must meet the following standards:
1-1) Candidate’s that are currently working in ministry as a chaplain, in such a capacity as prison chaplain, law-enforcement chaplain, hospital chaplain, or church pastor may seek license and ordination with RAM Bible Institute and Seminary & Chaplains International, Inc. Bible institutes, Bible College and Seminary graduates may seek license and ordination upon verification of college or seminary transcripts and ministry activities.
1-2) Professional clergy who hold credentials with a local church or denomination may hold duel credentials with RAM Bible Institute and Seminary & Chaplains International. Candidates, who are seeking to be credentialed as a member of the clergy, and yet do not hold clergy credentials with any know church, denomination or Christian fellowship, may qualify for ordination provided their (Validated) experience or education supports the position, which they seek.
1-3) Professional Chaplains will receive a certificate of appointment and a chaplain’s ID card. Official RAM Bible Institute and Seminary &Chaplains International chaplain badges may be carried along with their chaplain’s credential.
Those who are eligible to serve as lay ministers (Associate Level) must meet the following standards:
2-1) Chaplain Assistant is classified as a person who serves in ministry as lay ministers, or lay chaplain. They include religious volunteers who serve in the prison system, hospitals, hospice care, etc. Associate Chaplains are not officially considered clergy, but rather church volunteers. While Associate Level ministers are allowed to represents RAM Bible Institute and Seminary & Chaplains International, Inc. in an official capacity, they are not bestowed with ecclesiastical authority. After holding credentials as an intern chaplain for a period of 2 years, the chaplain may apply for advancement.
Commission of License and Ordination
2-2) All ordination and Associate Level candidates must submit a signed application and all supporting documents that validates the application (Include a ministry resume) for service and submit it to the RAM Bible Institute and Seminary & Chaplains International Commission of License and Ordination for approval. Upon a vote by (NOT LESS THAN TWO QUALIFIED BOARD MEMBERS), commission members, in person, telephonically or on occasion by written vote the commission may approve or deny an applicant.
Policy and Agreement
3-1) All Ordained and Associates Chaplains must agree to continue to seek education and advancement in the area of crisis intervention and other types of training related to the field of chaplaincy when such training is available. RAM Bible Institute and Seminary & Chaplains International is a Christian-based organization, which supports a statement of faith as listed on our web site www.rambis.org
3-2) RAM Bible Institute and Seminary & Chaplains International will not consider awarding credentials as an Ordained Chaplain/Minister to those individuals who hold clergy credentials from organizations that are questionable or whose doctrines conflict RAM Bible Institute and Seminary Statement of Faith.
3-3) Any chaplain caught misusing RAM Bible Institute and Seminary & Chaplains International credentials or a chaplain badge in any manner, criminal or unprofessional, will have their license revoked.
3-4) Candidates must understand that RAM Bible Institute and Seminary & Chaplains International, Inc. is not a law enforcement agency, rather an institutional support organization and Christian fellowship of ministers and chaplains. Candidates who are granted credentials with RAM Bible Institute and Seminary & Chaplains International, Inc. are not to use their credentials to acquire special privileges or considerations. Candidates who are granted credentials are not authorized by RAM Bible Institute and Seminary & Chaplains International, Inc. to identify themselves as peace officers. All members of RAM Bible Institute and Seminary & Chaplains International are expected to conduct themselves in a manner becoming of any person who is serving in ministry.
3-5) RAM Bible Institute and Seminary & Chaplains International does not discriminate against women who may choose to serve in the role of a chaplain. RAM Bible Institute and Seminary & Chaplains International does not discriminate based on race or color. All candidates are required to be in good standing with a local church and may be called upon from members within the network of RAM Bible Institute and Seminary Chaplains International association to respond to a crisis as the need arises.
3-6) All RAM Bible Institute and Seminary & CI chaplains are considered inter-denominational and are not to use their credentials for the purpose of proselytizing unless permitted by the person or institution to which they are providing services.
Badge Policy (Official RAM Bible Institute and Seminary and generic badges)
4-1) Chaplain Badges engraved with the Trademark name RAM Bible Institute and Seminary may be carried by ordained members of the organization. Chaplain badges must be accompanied with a valid RAM Bible Institute and Seminary identification card. All RAM Bible Institute and Seminary& Chaplain International badges must contain on the lower panel of each badge the official identification number of the clergy of record. All clergy must be in good standing with the organization. Chaplains who are authorized to carry an official RAM Bible Institute and Seminary & CI badge with their organizational ID must agree to follow a code of conduct as prescribed by RAM Bible Institute and Seminary Chaplains international, Inc. and the law as it pertains to the use of a badge while in the performance of their duties. Chaplains are prohibited from misrepresenting themselves in a manner that would suggest or imply that the person in possession of a badge is serving in a capacity other than the designated role of organizational chaplain. (Badges must be purchased separately) Professional Chaplains will be listed in our database of network chaplains for referral purposes.
